Age gaps

Is it weird for me to be a freshman at college (17f) dating a senior in high (16m) if it’s a year age gap? It feels off to me because like a 8th grader dating a 9th grader is kind of weird. Another thought that crossed my mind a lot of if ppl ask me if I’m dating someone and I say my boyfriend’s in high school it would sound kinda weird. I just want to get other people’s opinion on this because I’ve liked this guy for a year now and I think I’m ready to date him. It just feels like it’s still at an awkward time because of our current grades ig in school? Idk how to explain it..
