Finding a good partner early is probably one of the best decisions you can make

I say this looking back, as one of those people who 'focused on myself' and never took finding a partner seriously when young.

Sure, I'm fit and professionally successful, but socially/financially I'm in a worse off position than those who partnered early with equally motivated people.

Looking back 10+ years to my high school, the kids who dropped out, chased women instead of college, went partying are now settled, having families and owning homes with people they like. 2 stable average incomes will always outshine a single good income.
