Was I that easy to forget
You said I was your closest,
the calm to your chaos,
the anchor in your storm.
We spent months when
eyes speaking louder than words
ever dared to try.
I thought it was real.
at least for me, it was.
But then,
You shut me out like I was a phase
you regretted remembering.
Told me I was paranoid,
as if my heart imagined the silence
and the distance
and the sudden shift in tone.
If I was wrong,
why the tricks?
Why the clever words
you never meant to keep?
It took you days.
days.
to find someone new.
Someone who made you cross the lines
you once said you'd never blur.
And suddenly,
I was the foolish one
for believing
I was special.
Enough.
You knocked me breathless,
left me in pieces
too small to count.
I had to throw away the parts of me
that loved you
just to breathe again.
It took months to feel human.
But in the wreckage,
I found truth.
Not that I couldn’t love you,
but that I shouldn’t have.
You were never enough.
Not for the woman I’m becoming.
Not for the fire I hold.
I thought you saw me,
but you only saw your version of me.
I thought you heard me,
but your words were just shadows,
pretty lies in a practiced mouth.
So here I am.
No more chasing.
No more begging.
No more giving pieces of myself
to those who make me question my worth.
Let them go,
the ones who cannot love without wounding.
I’m waiting now
only for the one
who sees my storm
and stays.
