Confabulation and bpd?

Im dealing with someone who has BPD and is extremely hostile towards me. It’s to the point where I’m lowkey being stalked and they are spreading rumors.
My conversations always lasts hours and end up making me feel so confused.

My main question: have you dealt with someone with BPD who remembers stuff incorrectly or has a twisted version of reality??

Long story short: one of the rumors involved my partner and when I confronted my partner about it they said they (person with bpd) is lying. But I’m genuinely so confused why they seem to tell the story as truth. Do they genuinely believe this to be their real memory? Are they lying to be malicious towards me?
