Genuinely tired of fake coupon code sites cluttering search results, how is everyone else finding codes now

Searched for a code for a brand I wanted to buy from last week. Top 10 search results were all the same kind of site. Generic coupon aggregator names. Lists of codes with various percentage discounts. All the codes had recent looking dates. None of them worked.

This isn't just one brand. It's basically every search now. The top results for any "brand name discount code" search are dominated by AI generated coupon farms producing fake codes at scale.

How are people actually finding working codes in this environment? Curious what other people's workflows look like.

What's working for me lately. Brand specific subreddits when they exist and have actual members testing codes. The verification culture in those communities filters out the fake codes that dominate general search.

Browser extensions specifically Capital One Shopping rather than Honey. The auto testing surfaces working codes that the search results would never show.

Going directly to the brand's social media. Twitter and Instagram occasionally have current promotion codes the brand posted themselves. These are reliable because they're coming from the source.

Email newsletters from brands I shop at regularly. The codes that come through email are real because they're coming directly from the brand.

What I've completely stopped doing. Clicking on any of the generic coupon aggregator sites in search results. They're 95 percent fake content at this point and the time invested testing their codes is wasted.

The discount code search experience has gotten worse every year for the past 4 years and 2026 is the worst it's been. Wondering if anyone has found something that actually works at scale or if everyone is just dealing with the same dysfunction.
