I have a psychopath for a stepfather, I'm serious, he's crazy
This shit is long, like really long, but it's also a plea for help so please take the time to read it.
Hi... So, It's now 4:30 in the morning and I just stopped crying after my stepfather yelled at me and started a heated argument with my brother. All this mess started because my siblings and I wanted to watch a movie. It's summer, so sometimes at night we go downstairs and watch movies (We usually watch movies at night because he's always home and since none of us want to be near him, we wait until he falls asleep) Halfway through the movie, he cut off our internet (because of course he has an app to cut off the internet to any device in the house) And since he always does that, I just did what I always do and connected the TV to my phone's internet, When the movie ended, I told my younger brother to go to sleep, and my brother and I stayed downstairs watching a YouTube video That's when my stepfather came downstairs and started yelling. My brother refused to give him the TV remote; he immediately went into defensive mode and told him he wasn't going to turn off the TV. My stepfather unplugged the TV, and they continued arguing and insulting each other. All that time I was covering my ears and closing my eyes tightly, telling my brother we should just go to sleep, but my stepfather started yelling at me, he said "you're not the one raising the kids" when all I wanted was to have a movie night with my brothers, like a normal person.
I've always wanted to deny it, but the truth is I'm afraid of him. I'm so afraid that every time I hear his voice I feel like throwing up, and this time when he was in front of me I almost peed myself.
And you might say, "But that's not so bad, why would you or your brother react like that?" Because this situation that made me install Reddit, create an account, and tell my life story to strangers on the internet is just the tip of the iceberg. My mom met this man in her home country and now we're all here in the United States living with him because she wanted a better life for us but the truth is, from the beginning I knew something was wrong with him, he never made me feel at home, and over time he only made things worse. He constantly kicked me out of the house, threw down the posters I put up in my room, and said hurtful things towards me, that's why throughout my adolescence I ended up going back and forth between my country and the USA, my grades weren't the best, I didn't have solid friendships, and basically my life was a constant disaster, I was completely depressed, but seeing the rest of my family happy, I thought I was the problem. At the beginning of 2024 I decided that things wouldn't go on like that anymore, that I couldn't let one person ruin my life, and with all the sadness in the world because I would have to leave my siblings and mom behind, I moved in with my dad in my home country for two years, and during those two years I learned what it was like to live with a happy family. I graduated with honors and decided that I missed my mom and siblings very much and I knew I was much more mature now, so I thought that maybe everything that had happened with him was because I was a rebellious teenager or something like that, so I decided to go back to my family.
As soon as I moved back here, I started looking for a job, helping with housework and basically being helpful. I treated my stepfather with all the respect in the world, and well, I settled in. There are only three rooms in this house, so I took the space of one of the closets. I didn't think much about it and just wanted to live comfortably. My stepfather didn't want me to sleep with my brothers, but I didn't pay much attention to him because... they are my brothers and we had always shared a room, so I slept with them anyway, that made him angry and he moved my brothers to a different room, but obviously they took me with them and since that made him even angrier, he removed all his decorations and drawings from the room while my younger brother cried. At that point I was simply tired, so I focused on my work and slept in the other room But every now and then, when I came home from a night shift and my brothers were already at school, I would just lie down in their room because my grandparents slept in the other one and they would usually wake me up In the mornings when they went to work, One of those days, I had arrived home at 6 in the morning after a thirteen-hour shift, so I fell asleep in my brothers' room, but my stepfather came into the room and pulled the blanket off me, telling me I had to move to the room HE had assigned to ME. I guess that's when I realized he was out of his mind.
From that point things got worse and he started doing weird things like wake up in the middle of the night to check that I wasn't sleeping in my brother's room. I think it goes without saying that my mom has no say in this house; he always says it's his house and everyone should do what HE says, without exception so it wasn't like she could do much, besides, all she wanted to do was get a divorce as soon as possible. The breaking point was one day when he realized my clothes were in my brothers' room. He went crazy and tried to yell at me and confront me, but I had to go to work so I left him there and went to work, I remember hearing him say that "he didn't want to live through that nightmare again" And that he wanted me out of the house. Anyway, When I returned from work, I found all my clothes scattered on the floor of the other room, along with his son's clothes (his biological son who doesn't even live with him where mine used to be) My mom was crying and saying it wasn't fair that I had to leave, but I just packed my things and went to a friend's house on my motorcycle. That night I couldn't sleep, I kept thinking about what we were going to do when my mom got divorced, she didn't have a job, how I had to help her and my siblings get out of that house that seemed more and more like hell and how all I wanted was to have a happy family again.
But apparently all that stress cost me dearly because the next day I had an accident on my way to work. I cried buckets, and it wasn't even from the pain; it was because it meant I could no longer help my family get out of that shitty situation. Fortunately, my mom and he were out of the country, so for two weeks my grandparents and siblings took care of me and let me sleep wherever I pleased, but that didn't last long. Even with my broken foot, he yelled at me as soon as he saw me in my brothers' room and forced me to get up and go to the other room to sleep. The next day he said I couldn't even go back there at all. I must admit I was tired, frustrated, angry, and had a lot of feelings I couldn't control, so I challenged him for the first time, ignored him, and stayed with my brothers playing video games But he went crazy, lay down next to me and started playing videos at full volume on his phone, saying hurtful things again like I didn't love my brothers and I was only doing all that to mess with him, that if I had my own room I would kick them out of my room and not spend time with them, that I used them and so on. He was acting so creepy, so terrifyingly, blaming me for his delusions, making up a story in his head that didn't exist where I'm apparently the devil And the worst part is that I just stayed quiet the whole time, I didn't say a word to him or even look at him for a second. He realized that trying to provoke me was pointless, so he started throwing my things on the floor again, and I started feeling sick because I hadn't eaten or taken my pain medication I almost fainted, but he kept saying that if my mom was going to give me food, he was going to divorce her. To make a long story short, he kept screaming and saying horrible things while I fainted. They moved me to the other room.
Since that incident, I don't leave this room if I know he's outside because just seeing him, even though I'm about to vomit, and hearing his voice makes me feel sick. I also discovered, thanks to my mom, that the real reason he didn't want me to sleep in my brothers' room and why he treats me badly in general is because I'm part of the LGBT community (I'm not going to specify what I am, but uh-huh, to all this crap we must add discrimination)
I'm currently recovering; my foot is fine, but since I have no insurance or money, no doctor has seen it so I don't really know when I'll be able to walk again. I have a huge debt with the hospital where I had the surgery, I have a court appointment today because of the accident, my family is still raising money to get out of this place, and although I haven't been fired from my job yet, if I don't start walking again soon, they will.
I just hope that something better comes my way in the future because I'm just loosing my faith in everything.
