Already fed up with the NHS

I just need to vent a little bit. I have a pre-existing heart condition and this is my first baby. But so far I’ve just been messed around by health care providers and I’m finding it so stressful. Firstly I arranged for a medication review at the GP where the doctor told me that she couldn’t advise and that I should speak to my consultant. When I contacted the consultant I was told they couldn’t advise and the GP should be contacting them first. I stopped taking my medication because of the information in the packet and google and then was berated by the GP medication review because “no one told me to stop taking it so it’s not her responsibility”. I tried repeatedly to make an appointment with the doctor. Each time I was told a doctor would contact me that day. Each day I called back just before close to chase this up to be told “the doctor has decided you don’t need to be seen” this happened 3 days in a row. other doctors since have told me stopping my medication was absolutely the right thing to do.

Today my midwife was supposed to come for a house visit. I cancelled my work meetings, booked the morning off work and spent all evening yesterday making sure the house was spotless and tidy, feeling both anxious but also excited to speak to someone about my situation. She didn’t turn up. I called to see what was going on and another member of staff informed me that the midwife had taken annual leave this week to enjoy the weather… no communication with me at all. I was then offered another booking in appointment for 3 weeks time… I’ll be 11 weeks by that point so I’m at a little bit of a loss.

I just feel completely disrespected and uncared for, I know I’m not the first person in the world to have a baby but considering they talk about keeping stress levels down in pregnancy you’d think they’d try and at least communicate.

I don’t need advice, I just needed someone to complain to about how upset I am right now.
