New bike or repair old?
I have a 1999 Norco Sasquatch that is mostly stock. The fork is newer (2005ish) and has a bit more travel than stock. Brakes and drivetrain are still original. Levers and shifters still original, etc...
I haven't ridden in about 17-18 years. It's literally been sitting in the garage at my parents' house. The bike didn't come with me when I moved out. Two weeks ago, my daughter learned how to bike without training wheels, so now I need a bike to keep up with her.
My wife got a Marin Stinson on the weekend, and the upright/relaxed position is actually pretty nice. I've tried my Norco over the past week and it's not all functioning as it should be, but I'm hesitant to put any money towards it, since technology has changed so much.
Has anyone else been in this position? I could try to keep my bike going, but it was a lot more comfortable to ride my wife's new bike. I'm wondering if I've grown a bit since 99 and maybe just need a bigger bike in general.
Also, what happened to all the hard tails? Nobody makes them anymore. Norco doesn't even have a hard tail spec'd to the same degree as my Sasquatch (XT rear, etc)...
