Slinkies are not springs.

Slinkies aren't springs. Springs are a coiled piece of metal and while Slinkies are *also* coiled pieces of metal, they lack the elasticity, rigidity and energy storage that is a prerequisite quality for a spring. If they resisted stretching or compression in a spring like manner, then they'd be springs, but Slinkies don't do that; they walk down stairs and that is a different mechanical function entirely.

I still love em though.
