Looking for Readers (Psychological Thriller/Mystery)
If you wanna “beta read” but don’t feel like actually writing all that much, then that’s perfectly fine. I really just wanna know if you enjoyed the story, and if not, where I lost you.
Please DM me if you’re interested because I got email scammed once already and I don’t feel like uploading the doc directly again. Below is a summary of the story:
The story follows a woman who wakes up without any memory of who she is. She makes her way around her home and pieces together a few clues about her life: she is a mother, and she has a daughter. As she moves throughout the house, she searches for her daughter; however, the only evidence she discovers is a letter with an address: 11 Crown Road. Meanwhile, across town, Detective Iger is ready to give up on a particularly disturbing case of a missing girl. Lily Irapiti has been absent for multiple days, which has triggered an investigation. What's more, strange letters have been sent to the police station, seemingly leading them on in connection to the case. His partner Alva insists that they can't lose focus now-- they can't abandon a missing child. Igeropens up the letter sent that day, and it contains an address: 11 Crown Road.
A lot is going on in the story: Laverna's POV is written in first person. She is an unreliable narrator, and gradually unravels throughout the course of the novel. Her dream depicted at the start of the novel is meant to abstractly depict her anxiety about the situation she wakes up to, and the decay of reality that will bleed out from her mind into her day-to-day.
The POV of the detectives is written in the 3rd person, offering the reader a much more grounded reality in contrast to Laverna's unreliability.
The story is a blend of Horror, Thriller, and Mystery, with a large focus on psychological horror.
