How to research about colleges?

For SHS, JHS or even college students and graduates, what resources do you use to learn about colleges specifically in USA? Back in my time, it was these massive imported textbooks by companies like Princeton Review, Kaplan, College Board. The main online message board was College Confidential. PAEF/EducationUSA was also helpful. What has replaced them or are they still being used?

Thank you!
