Finding Genuine Buyers Is Hard: My Experience with Brokers, 99acres, Magicbricks & Nobroker
I never thought selling my 3BHK would be this stressful.
After 8 years of living there, my family and I decided it was time to move closer to my parents. The flat held so many memories my daughter's first steps, family celebrations, and countless weekends spent making it a home. Letting go was already emotional enough.
At first, I relied on a few local brokers. They sounded confident and promised they had genuine buyers ready. One broker even claimed he had a buyer who was "100% final." After weeks of calls and multiple property visits, I found out the buyer wasn't serious at all. Another broker asked for advance marketing charges and then practically disappeared. I felt frustrated and honestly a little cheated.
That's when I started exploring online platforms as well. I listed the property on 99acres, Magicbricks, and Nobroker to increase my chances of finding genuine buyers directly. Each platform brought different kinds of enquiries some serious, some just curious, and a few who never responded after showing interest.
The biggest challenge wasn't getting calls. It was figuring out who was genuinely interested and who was simply wasting time.
After months of effort, I'm still searching for the right buyer and trying to avoid another bad experience.
For those who have successfully sold a property recently, how did you identify genuine buyers? Did local brokers help, or did online platforms work better for you? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
