Next Time
We stare the TV in front of us,
Gazing at our silhouettes
On the backdrop of a moving picture.
The Office, I reckon.
Just like that day.
You come a little closer, I think.
I can’t tell. A little closer again.
Am I dreaming or is this real?
Until your hands brush against mine.
Real, definitely real.
Or is it Dunkirk in the background?
Sure feels like we’ve been through.
We see more than just silhouettes now.
Earlier that evening, we went to buy tomatoes.
Just like that time. The curry is simmering.
It’s yours, I still can’t cook Rajma very well.
Before we go to sleep, I tell you I love you.
With all my heart - I don’t hesitate.
You pick out my two pillows and a blanket.
Before we go to sleep, I latch on to your arms,
My cold legs tangled in yours.
Next morning, we get up and repeat.
You and me. No lies. Nobody else.
