need advice to choose between law or psychology
I'm an 18-year-old from
myquals are
93% in 10th
74% in 12th PCB
and i dropped a year for neet prep
I currently have two options:
-
BBA LLB at CUSAT which is like 200 km away
-
Psychology at a self-financing college nearby under management quota
i wanted to do paramedical courses but colleges have cut off at like atleast 80% and im not getting in for biotechnology or bpharm
A few things about me:
- Psychology has been a dream field for a long time. I've imagined becoming a therapist/counsellor since I was young.
- However, I'm worried about income, job security, and the long path to becoming a clinical/counselling psychologist.
- I know I'd probably need a Master's and additional training.
The reason law is attractive is:
- More career options
- Better college life, (PROLLY)
- I'd move away from home and become more independent.
- It seems more stable financially IF I DONT END UP UNEMPLOYED 💔
BUT THEN LITERALLY EVERYBODY ON REDDIT AND QUORA SAYS LAW IS HELL so please help idk what to do bc psychology also feels like unemployment
The problem is that I'm not sure I would enjoy traditional legal careers. I'm shy, conflict-avoidant, and not naturally drawn to courtroom arguments, competition, or high-pressure environments. i was planning to work in regulatory affairs after bpharm or go into compliance type work after bcom or something
At the same time, I don't know if I'm idealizing psychology and underestimating the financial realities.
- For lawyers: do you regret law because of the work itself, or because of pay/work-life balance?
- For psychologists/therapists: what does the career actually look like financially after Master's level training?
- Am I overestimating law's stability or underestimating psychology's potential?
- are there even jobs in compliance
I'd especially appreciate answers from Indian lawyers, compliance professionals, psychologists, therapists, and people who had to make a similar choice.
any advice or texts are welcome
