Stretching septum with single flare plugs

Hey all, I have been very slowly stretching my septum, I've been stuck at 8g for two years now and I decided it's time to upsize. So far I've been dead stretching with titanium rings, but I understand 8 to 6g is a significant jump, and it's very difficult to find 7g jewellery that ships to my country, so I'm thinking I ought to switch to a 7g plug until I'm ready for 6g.

I've never used plugs before and I'm looking for peoples experince/advice with using it in septums. I understand glass is the recommended material. What length and colour would you recommend? Are they super noticeable/have you had many people comment on their appearance? Is there anything I need to know? It's going to take upwards of a month to ship anything in this size to my location, so I really don't want to mess this up! Thanks in advance 😊
