Don't fall for false narratives

Discussions/Opinions

We all know how reddit is filled with this narrative:

  1. Ranbir only can play urban rich guy roles

  2. Ranbir has dead eyes and no voice modulations

  3. Ranbir and Ranveer are same level in acting but Ranveer is better since he is more versatile.

It surprises me when even Ranbir fans speak this same language.

Pls get out of need to confirm with reddit majority and thinkabout it >

**Urban eich guy only**

Many of you will agree- below are among Top5 performancesby Ranbir:

**Haryanvi commoner in Rockstar**

**Sikh commoner in Rocket Singh**

**Small town boy in Barfi**

Now tell me- Are they urban rich roles? Ranbir did not do them convincingly? There are no good looking and fair skinned people in non-urban India?

**Dead eyes and no voice modulation**

When playing the same roles I mentioned above- Did Ranbir felt out of place as Haryanvi or Sikh boy based on his voice and accent? Was Ranbir in Barfi any less expressive with so-called dead eyes of his?

**Ranbir, Ranveer and Versatility**

Ranbir is a better actor than Ranbir. Directors who worked with him have nothing to gain by praising him if he was actually not good. Because- Ranbir does not have star power like Salman that even substandard acting can make it a super hit so makers want to cast him by falsely praising.

Amitabh Bacchan, would still remain great actor if he had only played angry young man roles. Irrfan Khan or Naseer would be great even if they had acted in only 2-3 movies. Acting greatness has nothing to do with versatility. It's about depth and not breadth. Will you call someone who can do mimicry and sing in multiple voices as better singer than Pt Bhimsen Joshi?

That over the top, dancing villain in Padmavat is not a good example of great acting compared to even Jim Sarbh's acting in the same movie. With great actors- you don't notice that they are acting. Great actors don't overplay it to get noticed or underplay it to not invoke necessary emotions. They play it perfectly so much that- you forget they are acting and get invested in character.
