Do I need to give notice to leave?

(US/PA)So I’m month to month with no real lease as the last one expired, we plan on moving out in or around August but I’m not sure if I need to give a notice? There’s a lot of issues with the house that make me think we don’t have to ( wiring that makes noise and is a fire hazard, our door hasn’t locked correctly for months and they’ve been ignoring us telling them this stuff) and I’m not exactly sure if the new place will be ready by August so I don’t want to give notice and then have nowhere to go.
