Built a free tool that searches text inside scanned PDFs (most "search" tools can't do this)
Everyone has a scanned PDF where Ctrl+F returns nothing — invoices, old contracts, a photographed textbook page. That's because a scan is an image, not text. There are a dozen sites for merge/compress (iLovePDF, Smallpdf, etc.) but almost none let you search inside a scan for free.
I built pdfeveryday.com around solving that specific problem with OCR — you upload a scanned PDF, it extracts the text layer, and you can search/find/count any term instantly. I added the usual merge/split/compress tools too, but the OCR search is the actual reason I built this.
Tech: FastAPI + Tesseract OCR on the backend, vanilla JS frontend, Railway hosting. Feedback welcome: https://www.pdfeveryday.com/search-pdf
