18 hole tournament in around 37 degree celsius/ 100 Fahrenheit

General Discussion

I have a tournament this weekend that I have been working hard for for weeks now. My game is pretty much on point.

It‘s a only a Single Day tournament but still hefty prices, relevant for your handicap obviously (big in Germany because handicap changes are only possible in official tournaments) and very prestigious in the region.

I am around scratch, looking to dip into the Plus Handicaps this season. But here comes the kicker: It’s supposed to be around 37-38 degrees Celsius (~100 Fahrenheit) this weekend, has been very hot with no rain for the entire week. I‘ve been playing for 20 years but I have not played a competition in this kind of weather ever (because we usually don‘t have this).
It‘s also supposed to be quite humid unfortunately.

So my question is: IF it doesn‘t get canceled (which is possibility because the german golf Association prohibits Play in „unhealthy“ conditions), what do I even do? Obvious checklist:

- Tons of water with electrolytes.
- another water bottle to wash hands/wet my hat
- sunscreen, bucket hat, umbrella on the bag
- anti UV sleeves
- sugary food (bananas, oat bars, dextrose)

I‘ve played a few rounds in similar weather and around the 13th hole I absolutely fall apart. Short game is mostly fine, anything Else isn‘t. Fatigue and grip is a big problem. I bought a pair of these rain gloves, they helped with grip but wearing 2 gloves feels terrible to me. There is also no way of getting them on and off between shots, which means I would have to putt and chip with them aswell.

The course being this dry and firm leads to some Problems aswell as roll-outs will be insane. I‘m not kidding if I‘m telling you that I hit a 400 yard total drive on a Par 5 yesterday, with „only“ 320 carry. This would lead to rethinking a Lot of teeshots.

Talked to other competitors and some of them already withdrew and most others think they will aswell. Right now I‘m at a point of probably withdrawing aswell

If you have any insight at all, feel free to share. I probably also just needed to vent a bit.
