non-traditional applicant looking for advice

❔ Question

Please be kind.

What can I do to improve my chances for the 2027 application year?

Volunteered for a summer at the hospital when I was 13;

Volunteered for various charities in college;

Graduated from undergrad (pre-med) in 2015 with a BS in Cell Biology (3.86 GPA);

Earned my MS in Epidemiology in 2018 (4.0 GPA);

Worked as an epidemiologist for 6 years;

Left public health and got my CNA license in 2025;

Worked in nursing homes and assisted living from October 2025 to March 2026;

Had to stop working in direct patient care due to health issues (couldn't be on my feet);

Studying to take the MCAT in January 2027;

Looking for work again, but CNA work is way too intense for my health issues. Too much lifting and maneuvering people.

I can't afford to take more classes, for a post-bacc or just extra classes. I am beyond poor because i haven't been able to work in 6 months, and already drowning in student debt.

What can I do?
