First time for everything!
Hello Everyone,
Looking for a little advice. Was in the process of replacing the belt tensioner in my 2011 Honda element and successfully got the new one in, but snapped my center bolt.
Got the new one back out and thankfully there’s about a 1/16” stub sticking out of the threads so drilling the center out for an extractor was fairly easy, but thus far, I’ve been alternating with heat, penetrating fluid, and the extractor kit(left handed threads). Last night, the extractor snapped so the objective turned into getting the extractor out rather than the bolt. Needless to say, a little defeated.
The options I see going forward:
A: Get another extractor and keep trying to go at it with that.
B: Drill out the bolt and through bolt to the other side of the bracket with a washer and a locknut.
Any tips, tricks, or advice would be greatly appreciated!
