Anybody else finds that Malazan has similiar vibes as Warhammer 40000?

I am reading through Memories of Ice so pls avoid spoilers.

Actually I did not had a lot of Warhammer 40k experience, but since I started reading Malazan, suddenly WH40k started to cross my mind, and I ended up watching youtube lore videos on WH40k, I started playing Space Marine 2, Horus Heresy is on my reading list after Malazan.

I dont know why but if feels similiar in a way, its really great reading Malazan then make a pause with Space Marine 2 :))

Did anybody had similiar experience?
