Can I access the layers of a TIFF image from within InDesign?

I'm laying out a comic book, and the author delivered the pages as TIFF files with a text layer that can be toggled off in Photoshop. I need to remove the existing text and rebuild it in InDesign.

I'm trying to figure out whether there's a workflow that avoids opening every single page in Photoshop, turning off the text layer, saving it, and then relinking it in InDesign.

Is it possible to access and control TIFF layers directly in InDesign, or is there a more efficient workflow for handling this?
