DJI Osmo Pocket 3 Review
The Osmo Pocket 3 is basically a mini cinema rig in your pocket — a tiny 1-inch sensor gimbal camera that tries to give you professional-looking footage without hauling gear. It hits 4K (up to 120fps) with smooth mechanical 3-axis stabilization and a 2-inch rotatable OLED screen you can flip for vertical or horizontal shooting, which is great for creators who bounce between YouTube and social feeds. The sensor size and color profiles (10-bit D-Log M, HLG HDR) let you push footage in post better than most action cams or phone video, and features like ActiveTrack 6.0 make solo shooting easier.
Design is compact and genuinely pocketable, though it’s still a dedicated device you have to remember to carry — your phone is always easier, even if it won’t match the stabilization and dynamic range. Battery life is decent but not spectacular, and the onboard menu/UI isn’t as slick as some mirrorless cameras. The Pocket 3 sits squarely in that “prosumer” sweet spot — more capable than cheap action cams, less flexible than full mirrorless rigs.
Value vs flagship gear: if you seriously care about crisp, stabilized handheld video with creative control, the Osmo Pocket 3 delivers it in an unrivaled form factor. But if you want interchangeable lenses, better autofocus, or rugged waterproofing, a small mirrorless or dedicated action camera will still beat it.
Most similar low-cost alternative: something like the FeiyuTech Pocket 3 or similar “pocket gimbal camera” models — they drop sensor size and features but still offer 3-axis stabilization and native shooting modes for far less cash.
