Prescription Sunglass Lenses

Does anyone have experience with getting prescription lenses made for frames you already own? I have a vintage set of frames with some absolutely ruined lenses and would like to get a new set of prescription sunglass lenses made.

I'd prefer to use a local optometrist rather then send them off to some online shop.
