Portable air compressor 101: what to look for, what to skip?

Our Rhino USA team put this together from years of airing up and down on the trail, and burning through a few compressors to learn the difference.

Here's what actually matters vs. marketing fluff.

So, what actually makes a difference?

- Direct-to-battery alligator clamps beat cigarette lighter every time (12v plug-ins overheat fast and the cord is always wrong)
- Dual-tire capable saves real trail time
- Duty cycle rating matters (cheap ones overheat in 10 min, then you wait)
- Digital pressure gauge with auto-shutoff is the set-and-forget upgrade

The 4-wheel inflation/deflation systems are the next-level upgrade if you do a lot of group rides, trust me. Air all 4 tires down or back up at once, on a 6-rig caravan that saves about 45 minutes.

What are you running? Honest takes welcome!
