I need to replace my DE Filter

Should I switch from DE filter to sand filter?
My pool guy is suggesting I only replace with a DE Filter .

However I know the sand filter is easier maintenance. I also don’t care about water clarity as I hear the difference is negligible. I just don’t want to worry about washing grids annually and replacing with DE periodically.

What should I do? Any suggestions?
