Garage power upgrading

I want to run more power to my garage. It has the standard plugs, lights and door opener. I'm just curious as to what will be done to get a breaker box installed out there. Is that more wire from the house from multiple breakers? Or a larger amperage breaker with a single heavier gauge? Etc

I had to remove my deck, as I need to have some siding, etc reworked to prevent rain water leakage into my basement. As I started pulling the floor boards, I saw that the current power wire to the garage was just stapled to one of the deck joists, run out to the end of the deck and then buried. I don't like the look of that, but it was inspected and approved 20 years ago. I will be changing that. Mostly just curious about the upgrade.
