Help choosing between Samsung S95F, LG G5, and LG M4 77

Hi everyone,

I’m looking to buy a 77” OLED TV and I’m deciding between the Samsung S95F, LG G5, and LG M4. In my country, the LG M4 is about $900 cheaper than the S95F/G5, so it’s also a serious option.

My viewing distance is around 2.5 meters / 8.2 feet from the TV. It will be used in a living room. I have one side window that brings in direct/strong sunlight around noon, but most of my viewing is in the evening in a semi-dark room with a ceiling light / LED lights. On my current older Sony LCD, reflections don’t really bother me except during strong sunlight at noon.

My usage would roughly be:

• 30% cable TV / sports
• 30% Netflix / Prime Video / Max / Stremio / TV shows
• 20% PS5
• 15% YouTube
• 5% movies — but I’d probably watch more movies with a better TV

Picture quality is very important to me. I’m looking for a TV that can deliver a realistic cinematic image for shows and movies, but still has that impressive OLED/HDR wow factor with great colors and highlights.

I also watch close to bedtime, and LG’s Eyesafe / Circadian certification on its OLED panels could be a small factor for me, though I’m not sure whether the M4 is listed with CPF60 as explicitly as the G5.

I also have a Samsung soundbar, so Q-Symphony on the S95F could be a nice bonus, although it’s not the main deciding factor.

My initial preference was the Samsung S95F, mainly because of the impressive colors, QD-OLED panel, gaming performance, and better reflection handling. However, I’ve read a lot of negative comments about Samsung OLEDs, and from the review photos/videos I’ve seen online, I sometimes prefer the more realistic look of the LG image. Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to compare them properly in person yet.

Warranty is also a factor: the Samsung is offered with 4 years of warranty, while the LG has 3 years on the TV + 2 additional years on the panel.

I’ve done a lot of research, but I’d really appreciate advice from people with experience using these TVs.

My questions:

1. In my situation, which one would you recommend: S95F, G5, or M4?
2. If I seem to prefer the LG look in review photos/videos, how likely is it that I’ll also prefer it in real life?
3. How much should I worry about reflections on the LG G5/M4 in a semi-dark room with some ceiling/LED lighting?
4. Sometimes I have friends over and a few people may sit closer, around 1.5 meters / 5 feet from a 77” TV. Would that be a problem?
5. Would you recommend saving the money and going with the LG M4? How significant is the difference between the M4 and G5/S95F in real-world use?
