**Week six.** A new flagship model, a community-built way to code with Chutes, an early look at the new frontend, and our plans for Bittensor's biggest conference.

# GLM-5.2 is live

z.ai shipped GLM-5.2 last week, and it went straight onto Chutes. By the company's own benchmarks, it's the strongest open-source coding model around right now.

* **Terminal-Bench 2.1:** scores **81.0** — four points off Claude Opus 4.8 (85.0) and ahead of Gemini 3.1 Pro.
* **SWE-bench Pro:** hits **62.1**, up from GLM-5.1's 58.4.

The architecture is worth a look too. It ships with a native 1M-token context window, and a new attention design called IndexShare cuts per-token compute by 2.9x at full context. MIT licensed, open weights.

It runs as a TEE chute, so the GPU operators serving the model can't read your prompts or outputs.

**Pricing:** $1.40 in / $4.40 out per million tokens.

# Chutes in VS Code

Mikesoft, who runs our Reddit community, built a free VS Code extension that loads the full Chutes catalog into the editor's chat. You can run DeepSeek, Qwen, Kimi, GLM, and the rest as your coding agent, with no GitHub Copilot subscription needed.

Pick any model, switch mid-task, and run it in agent mode with tool calling and vision. The extension pulls the model list on its own, so new chutes show up as we add them. You can check your usage any time with a `/usage` command without leaving the editor.

This one came entirely from the community, which is the part we like most about it.

# A first look at the new frontend

We've been rebuilding the Chutes frontend for a while, and it's close. Last week we handed early access to a small group of community testers to put it through its paces ahead of the full launch.

They're finding the rough edges now — the bugs and the awkward corners that only turn up once real people start clicking around. We'll fold in what they flag, smooth it out, and ship the full thing soon.

# Exploit, and where we're headed

A couple of weeks ago we said we'd make the next big Bittensor event in person. This is the one.

Chutes is a **platinum sponsor of Exploit Summit**, Bittensor's flagship conference, on **September 28–29 in Montreal**. Exploit pulls the whole Bittensor ecosystem into one room for two days of talks, demos, and debate, built around the competitive, game-theoretic design that makes the network what it is.

Planning is underway on our side now: what we sponsor, how we show up, and what we want to put on stage. There's a lot more to share as it comes together. If you'll be in Montreal, come find us.

# Next week

More on Exploit. More from the frontend beta. And whatever ships in between.

See you next week.
