Save Kolkata's Trams: Petition for Revival and Modernization

Recent announcements regarding the revival of Kolkata's tram network have given many citizens hope. I have started a petition urging the Government of West Bengal to:

• Publish a Tram Revival & Modernization White Paper

• Protect all remaining tram corridors and infrastructure

• Restore 5–10 strategic tram routes across Kolkata

• Introduce modern low-floor, air-conditioned electric trams

• Integrate trams with the Metro, buses, ferries, and suburban rail network

• Explore tram/light rail systems in Asansol, Durgapur, Siliguri, Kalyani, and New Town

Kolkata's trams are not just heritage—they are a clean, electric, sustainable mode of public transport that can help reduce congestion and pollution while preserving the city's unique identity.
