Post-Op Right Colectomy
So my dad 75 had a successful surgery yesterday about 5 hours. Note longest 5 hours of my life so bad I was nervous and had to keep using the bathroom myself. Now his is recovery and still on a liquid diet. When should he be able to transition to soft foods like mash etc as he is hungry. Broths, jellos and ice cream ain’t cutting it for the guy. Curious for those who have had the same procedure how long did it take you to start eating solids and experience your first poo ? I do understand that it takes time for the gut to adjust to his new normal but I know those who have gone through this have better insight for perspective. Thank you !
