MPFL Recon with no brace
Hey all, I had total MPFL Reconstruction with a donor tissue done last week, I am officially one week post-op! I just had my first post-op appointment and my first PT appointment.
I was given a knee immobilizer after surgery and was instructed to be weened off of that entirely by today (which was successful, haha). I didn't ask about any other bracing since I was primarily focused on getting something to fix my contact dermatitis I'm having from the procedure, and when I asked my PT she said she wasn't too worried about it.
I'm just curious, I have extremely lax joints and muscles due to my hEDS and after surgery I still feel kind of lacking in the department of stability. I understand no bracing can be better as it allows for earlier movement and quad activation, but what happens if I was hoping for a brace to just give some extra stability post-op even with crutches? My knee still buckles a bit when I'm not putting much weight on it, which worries me. How should I go about this, lol?
