Newly Medicated Grocery Shopping

Celebrating Success

I got diagnosed last week (at 27) and am newly on medication- wasn’t sure how much it was truly helping until I went on my routine weekly grocery trip.

The grocery store has always been my personal hell. I thought everyone felt this way. My husband has seen me cry for no apparent reason in the grocery store more than any other place.

Today on my Adderall, I was able to go in and pick up everything I knew we needed for the week + extra essentials to stock the pantry + solid healthy snacks + the dish detergent I’ve known we’ve needed for weeks but could never make myself get. EASILY.

I was able to walk through the store without constant racing thoughts about which aisle I need to go to next, what I was missing still, not wanting to go back to aisles I’ve passed already, etc. I took time to look at ingredients I’ve never thought about buying I know we’d enjoy. I actually HAD FUN.

I got in the car with this incredible and cohesive load of groceries in my trunk and wanted to cry. I can’t believe I’ve been putting up with this for so long thinking it’s normal. Thank god for Adderall.
