Men: dating as a straight woman vs male presenting gay

A big difference struck me today, a difference that I was slow to acclimate towards as I grew into myself as a woman.

Dating as a reasonably conventionally attractive “gay male”, other gay men typically wanted to fuck me, but always gave me “stank face.” If I offered attention, they offered indifference or else transform into giggly behavior. They’d roll their eyes, be mean, catty, anything but sincere and nice until they were soliciting sex, at which point they would magically transform into these fawning or else bossy guys more or less trying to convince me to let them have sex with me. I think this is often the way that I observed gay men interact. (The “masc for masc” types were usually more studiedly indifferent in general, regardless of their sexual interest).

My experience with straight men has been totally different. They seem genuinely happy to see me, to open the door for me, really for me to give them any attention whatsoever. They are kind, helpful, yes at times misogynist or condescending but it’s just an entirely different vibe. When approaching with intimate interest they tend to approach nervously, but indifference or that weird competitive behavior (directed at me) just isn’t there.

Idk really what to make of it, but after a period of passing (?), getting out of my region and traveling again, I’ve been trying to put my finger on what’s different now vs then it’s just night and day.

And it feels amazing.

I hope I didn’t bother anyone, I’m posting this but it’s kind of a half baked rumination and there’s not really anyone to properly share it with so I’m just dropping it here as a sounding board.
