Absorbing “bad” contracts to get pick(s)

What does everybody think about trading for younger players that teams don’t want in order to add draft capital and hopefully a rotation piece? Guys like Grady Dick and Zeke Nnaji are on teams that want to shed salary. I think it’s worth a shot to see what they have and if they don’t, oh well, you got a pick or 2 for your troubles.
