What can I expect as a bakery/deli partner?

Hello all! Just got hired on at HEB. I have never worked for a grocery store, but have been in retail for about 10 years. I've seen some pretty mixed reviews on this sub about bakery and deli, but most posts are pretty old.

I was just wondering what the current state of affairs was for both departments. I'm going to be getting 40 hours, split between both. The store I am hired at is older and pretty small in comparison to newer stores.

Any tips and advice would be great too!
