CMV: The U.S. drinking age of 21 is a total logical fallacy maintained by pure political hypocrisy.

Let’s stop babying the people who run this country and actually look at the data tbh. the US drinking age of 21 is a total intellectual scam. Older adults love to look down on a 20 yr old having a beer, acting like they are saving lives by keeping alcohol away from "children." But the actual statistics prove that adults over 21 are responsible for over 85% of all drunk driving deaths in America anyway. In fact, the absolute deadliest drivers on the road are 21-24 year olds. If this law was actually based on maturity or safety, the drinking age would be 30. Banning people who are 20 didn’t solve anything, it just shifted the peak of the crash data to 22 yr olds. The standard argument that "20 yr olds will just buy it for 14yr olds" is the most brain dead logic on the planet. Nobody who is 20 is hanging out with freshman in high school, and it’s very weird if they do. And guess what? Millions of 18 and 19 yr olds are on college campuses sharing the exact same dorms, frats, and dining halls with 21yr olds. The law doesn't stop drinking at all, it just forces young adults to chug hard liquor behind locked doors to pregame anything to avoid getting caught by whoever is enforcing it. The absolute peak of American hypocrisy is that someone who is 18 is old enough to get drafted into a war, carry military weapons, sign away their life to $100k in student debt, and be sent to adult prison for life but god forbid someone who’s 20 buys a beer at a stadium event without being infantalized and shamed. Lawmakers and older voters don't care because they already crossed the finish line. Once you turn 21, you stop caring about anyone else's rights. The law is pure political convenience disguised as safety. If you think a magical developmental leap happens overnight on a person's 21st birthday, you are completely delusional. CMV.
