Advice on Masters

❔Discussion

I just completed my bachelors at the University of Ottawa, and it made me realize that I wanted to deepen my understanding in the public healthcare system before I even applied to medical school because that’s where I see that most changes needed. I also think subconsciously I could not handle a gap year...

I got accepted into MPH at the University of Ottawa and I was excited however it is a year and a half so would push off my application cycle. it’s four days a week in person, so definitely would lower my volunteer hours, as I still need to work during the semester. And it’s also $32,000 which I’d have to go to student amount of credit but that’s kind of secondary.

I just recently got accepted to Brock University, which is a one year online MPH, and most people are able to speed it up for it to be done by June. this one is a bit less because there’s no poster presentation, however, there is still a placement that is important…

I have no one else in my life who is even remotely interested in medicine at all so any advice would be appreciated. ideally, I would love to go to the University of Ottawa for medical school, but I just don’t know if I also need to do my masters there because the cost definitely is in the back of my mind and also just how long it is. I just don’t know which university to go with.

thank you
