Regarding Vacancies

First of all, I don't know if the flair is suitable to this topic or not. I'm sorry if it's not.

Hello fellow SEAblings, my wife and I just visited George town recently. We noticed that there are several vacancies at some food stalls and mini market around. Most of the job seems hard labour and informal, cook, clerk, cook assistant, etc.

What make us wonder is why there are quite numerous vacancies and still open? Were there no people applied or just haven't got suitable worker yet? In this hard global economic condition, shouldn't any vacancies filled up fast?

Is this also happening in other cities and states?
