I fell off my e-bike on my first day of Uber Eats delivery
Last Friday night was my first day doing Uber Eats delivery. After completing my first order, I started the second one. It had just started raining a little. When I was cycling around Richmond, my front tyre slipped on some wet leaves and I fell. The food was still fine inside the Uber Eats backpack, but I landed on my right hand, and it was very painful.
Even so, I finished the second delivery. Then I accepted a third order and followed the Uber Driver app. When I was almost at the drop-off location, the app reminded me to deliver the food, but I realised I didn’t have anything with me. I hadn’t even picked up the third order.
The customer called me and asked where I was. I told her I hadn’t collected the order and had just followed the app to the location.
I knew I messed up on my first day.
What I learned:
- Don’t rely only on the Uber app navigation; use Google Maps instead.
- Uber should provide a proper tutorial for new delivery riders.
Anyway, My right hand is much better now after almost a week.
