Peroxide black marketing

Just a curious question, I've been trying to figure this out. My friend got banned for "attempt BM". I just want to know how they know to ban people for "attempt BM" or actual "BM". Do they check servers? Could it be like an auto-detection because it confuses me quite a bit.
