IMHA
6yr old spayed female dog, possibly dachshund cocker mix. 25 pounds.
Always been healthy, except for bee allergy. She has been stung before. But Apparently this recent stung might had been the trigger. She was stung last Monday, then this past Monday, she woke up very lethargic, no appetite, fatigued and multiple pee accidents indoors that look dark yellow pinkish and smelled like blood. Noticed gums were white yellowish. Took her to the vet where they ran multiple test and was diagnosed with IMHA, thankfully although RBC count was low, it wasn’t near low enough to require a transfusion. On day 3 of steroids, she seems better, still peeing slight pinkish but there are no longer indoor accidents and there’s no blood smell. Perking up more and eating a bit more. My question is, what are her chances? What can I do to increase chances? What do I need to make sure my Vet is doing, what questions should I ask? I wasn’t told anything regarding diet so I’ve been trying to figure that out on my own which is disappointing considering we are paying a thousands of dollars, and we are not even a week in. Any guidance, suggestion, diet advice, experience, is highly appreciated.
