Worried about the DCU

DISCUSSION

I didn’t have much hope for Supergirl after seeing the trailer, and after seeing the movie, it’s becoming clear to me that Gunn has bit off more than he can chew. The acquisition is near and with this being only the second movie in the DCU, performing this poorly does not spark much hope for anything beyond MOT.

I think theres only one actual path that keeps the DCU afloat for the time being until James can cohesively plan out his universe, and that starts with bringing Battinson into the fold. James cannot afford to wait until Reeves finishes the Crime Saga, nor can he trust such a massive part of DC’s success to the writer that brought us classics such as Birds of Prey, the flash, and batgirl. MOT and The Batman part 2 both release within a few months of each other, both would have characters from their comics with their own movies (Clayface, Supergirl), and it would start HBO’s DCU collection with Penguin and Lanterns.

Completely get rid of Ana Nogueria. I don’t know what she did in Gunn’s eyes that made her deserving of Supergirl, Wonder Woman, and Teen Titans. If she can’t handle a character like Kara, Wonder Woman is DOA. After MOT, Wonder Woman needs to be the main focus so that the trinity can be established. Otherwise I do not see Gunn’s universe surviving.
