Hyperfixating, getting bored, ghosting, and then coming back.
Ive noticed that I have this strange cycle of making friends.
I'll find someone to talk to, which is very infrequent as Ive never really been good at making friends (Social anxiety and being awkward n stuff)
I'll find a really strong connection with that person, and for the next 12-18 months, Its almost like im hyperfixating on them. I'll be super clingy, care a lot about what they think about me, I even get kind of upset when they choose some other friend to do things with and dont invite me (Which, I am working on, and I am making great efforts to tell myself that I am not this persons whole world.)
I dont know if its just from being so lonely, but its almost like my entire world will revolve around them. Until about a year to a year and a half in, when I just.. Get tired. Its like dropping a hyperfixation, once the novelty has worn off. Like playing a game 24/7 every day until youve gotten so burnt out on it you cant even think about it anymore. I'll get almost.. irritated when they try to talk to me and I distance myself heavily until eventually I stop talking to them. After that, it could take anywhere from a month to three or four before I start talking again, and start acting like a *normal friend?* Like I'll have a more healthy relationship with them and will give them their space, and hang out maybe once a week or every few weeks.
I dont understand. Its like I get almost burnt out from being around them so often, but this isnt healthy for either of us. Ive seen other people with adhd experience something similar, so maybe this falls under that somehow? I want to get to the root of the problem so i can see how i can fix it. People arent toys, and I dont want to see them as that. Yet, every time it happens I just cant bring myself to keep interacting. I *want* to keep that connection and be around them and my mood just drops anyway.
