APS employer super contribution hasn't changed after salary increase
I'm hoping someone familiar with APS payroll or Commonwealth super can sanity-check this. I saw that Payday super is about to come into play which prompted me to check.
I'm a full-time APS employee with an employer super contribution rate of 15.4%.
After a recent salary increase, I noticed my employer super contribution has remained exactly $471.82 per fortnight. It hasn't changed from what it was before the pay increase.
When I enter my current salary into PayCalculator with an employer super rate of 15.4%, it calculates an annual employer super contribution that equates to approximately $487.86 per fortnight, but my payslips still show $471.82.
I appreciate PayCalculator may not reflect APS-specific payroll rules, which is why I'm asking whether FCS is typically different from ordinary salary.
The Enterprise Agreement says employer super is 15.4% of Fortnightly Contribution Salary (FCS) rather than simply gross salary.
I'm wondering:
- Is FCS normally the same as ordinary salary for a full-time APS employee with no salary sacrifice?
- Has anyone had their employer super stay the same after a salary increase?
- Is there an APS payroll rule that could explain this?
- Or is it worth asking payroll to confirm my FCS and how my employer contribution is being calculated?
I'm not assuming there's been an error. I'm just trying to understand whether there's an APS-specific rule I'm unaware of before contacting payroll.
