My kids grandma refuses to take public transport to see our kids, but is willing to fly to Africa with her newest grandchild.
We are in Northern Europe , it takes an hour and 45 minutes by public transport to make the journey from her home to ours, myself and partner go to where she lives for day trips and have actually even taken the kids for day trips to tourist places. His sister now has a baby, and her baby’s dad lives in Africa, a 6 hour flight away. The mum and sister regularly go there with the baby, and also live together. She has complained about how far away we live, but can regularly take an intercontinental flight just to stay with the grandchild that she lives with. It is just insane and I hadn’t even registered it was a whole other continent that she was willing to travel to until my partner pointed this out. We have been the ones to visit her the last 2 times and before that it had been a year since she had seen our kids. She has a holiday home in this country by the seaside, but the last time we went there, she charged us the same amount as an Airbnb and she was also there. It’s just insanity, and I think my partner is done trying to make any effort to see his mother now. I’m not mad at this, his mother is actually the only person that I don’t live with that I have ever had an argument with as an adult.
