New StarHub Codex: Nether Requiem
Positioning
The core mechanic of Nether Requiem is Devouring Shard, which steals defensive stats and SPD from key enemies to build a snowballing advantage.
It can steal Final DMG Reduction, DMG Result Reduction, Pierce DMG Reduction, and SPD from up to five enemies. At the highest level, the wearer can gain up to 75% of each stat.
Meanwhile, Blood Curse Together and Blood Demon Pact Symbiosis provide repeated chances to negate damage, survive lethal damage, and Resurrect. Rather than relying on conventional damage reduction, this Magic Codex weakens enemies, strengthens its wearer, and gives the team several layers of survival protection. One copy can practically perform the role of a Priest.
0-Star: Basic Stat Steal
Effect 1: Teamwide damage reduction
All allies gain:
- 30% Final DMG Reduction
- 30% Final Crit DMG Reduction
- 10% Final Evasion Rate
Effect 2: Death Symbol
Whenever an enemy receives three Heal Effects, it gains one stack of Death Symbol. At six stacks, the target loses 30% Pierce DMG Reduction and 30% healing effectiveness.
Effect 3: Death Symbol detonation
After the wearer is hit five times by the same enemy, it detonates that enemy’s Death Symbol. The detonation deals damage equal to 5% of the target’s Max HP per stack, up to 30% Max HP.
This is difficult to trigger consistently because the enemy must heal frequently while repeatedly attacking the wearer.
Effect 4: Devouring Shard
Detonating Death Symbol also applies Devouring Shard, permanently stealing 10% Final DMG Reduction and 10% DMG Result Reduction from the target and transferring them to the wearer, capped at 10% of the wearer’s corresponding stats.
Devouring Shard is the real centerpiece of the Magic Codex. Although the initial amount is limited, repeated attacks permanently reduce enemy tankiness while improving the wearer’s durability. The mechanic resembles the awakened Tide effect of the War Spirit Liria.
Recommendation: Low
1-Star: SPD Steal and Team Protection
At the start of each turn, the wearer applies Devouring Shard to one random enemy.
Devouring Shard now also steals 10% Pierce DMG Reduction and 10% SPD. This is a major tactical upgrade, especially when combined with Liria’s active stat stealing. Each enemy can only be stolen from once, but the wearer can steal stats from up to five enemies.
After the wearer receives five Hero Skill hits from the same enemy, it ignores Flash Attack and reduces that enemy’s next attack skill success rate by 100%.
The wearer and the two allies with the highest ATK also gain Blood Curse Together. When one of these units is below 75% HP and receives Skill DMG, it has a 25% chance multiplied by the number of surviving marked allies to negate that damage. With all three alive, the chance reaches 75%.
Each marked unit can negate damage up to six times per turn. When all attempts are consumed, all enemy Death Symbols are detonated without consuming their stacks.
This effectively gives three core allies six high-probability damage negations each. It is particularly effective against multi-hit attackers such as Lyvia and Senmen.
Recommendation: ★★★ — highly cost-effective
3-Star: Complete Build
At battle start, Devouring Shard is applied to the three enemies with the highest ATK. The stolen amount increases from 10% to 15%.
The trigger requirement for applying Devouring Shard and detonating Death Symbol is reduced from five hits to three. Stealing from three enemies immediately grants up to 45% SPD and 45% of all three defensive stats, while also reducing the enemy main carries’ SPD.
This works especially well with Pet Cat Beast. The wearer gains a strong opening SPD advantage, while repeated healing and attacks continuously generate Death Symbols, detonations, counterattack damage, and further stat stealing.
The wearer and its two highest-ATK allies also gain Blood Demon Pact Symbiosis. When one takes lethal damage, it has a 25% chance multiplied by the number of surviving marked allies to negate death, up to 75%, then restores 35% Max HP.
Each unit can trigger this lethal-damage protection up to six times per turn for two turns. Combined with Blood Curse Together, each of the three core allies receives up to six damage negations and six lethal-damage negations with healing.
Recommendation: ★★★★ — the Magic Codex’s first complete form
5-Star: Priest-Level Revival
Before the first turn, Devouring Shard is applied to every enemy. Stealing 15% from five enemies can grant the wearer up to 75% SPD, Final DMG Reduction, DMG Result Reduction, and Pierce DMG Reduction.
This makes Nether Requiem ideal for a durable frontline warrior that remains on the battlefield and repeatedly draws enemy attacks.
Death Symbol is also enhanced: detonating it no longer consumes its stacks. Its 30% healing reduction and Pierce DMG Reduction debuff can therefore remain permanently while repeatedly dealing up to 30% Max HP counterattack damage.
Blood Demon Pact Symbiosis gains a Resurrect effect. When one of the three protected allies dies, it has up to a 75% chance to ignore revival restrictions, Resurrect with 50% Max HP, and detonate all enemy Death Symbols once.
Each protected unit can Resurrect this way up to twice per turn and four times per battle. Together, the complete defensive sequence becomes:
6 damage negations → 6 lethal-damage negations with healing → up to 4 Resurrects with healing
Execute effects can bypass damage and lethal-damage negation, making the 5-star Resurrect effect the final layer of protection.
Recommendation: ★★★★★+ — an ultimate survival Codex that surpasses a Priest
Final Assessment
- 1-Star: Steals 10% SPD at the start and gives three allies six damage negations. After five hits, it can force an enemy’s next attack skill to fail.
- 3-Star: Steals 15% SPD and defensive stats from three enemies at battle start, gives three allies six lethal-damage negations, and lowers counterattack requirements to three hits.
- 5-Star: Steals from all five enemies for up to 75% SPD and defensive stats, while giving three allies repeated probability-based Resurrects.
The best wearer is Ariditas. As a frontline tank that draws enemy fire, Ariditas maximizes stat stealing and counterattack triggers. Nether Requiem also solves Ariditas’s lack of revival, allowing her to repeatedly trigger follow-up Pierce DMG and follow-up healing while becoming the team’s sustain engine and counterattack bomb.
It can be combined with Defense Armor from Penna Fairy and Disguise from the Fantasy Beast Nether Listener. Together, they create an endgame defensive system built around stat suppression, powerful shielding, untargetability, damage negation, lethal-damage negation, and repeated Resurrects.
