Dispensed medication error

California - Northern

Today I picked up an RX and my bottle contained 3 Ritalin (I googled the letters & numbers on the tablets). These pills are exactly the same color as my actual rx however not the same size. I called the pharmacy to report I got these pills in error. They let me know someone would be calling me to ask additional questions and asked me to bring them to the pharmacy to prove what I had received.

Out of curiosity what does KPs RX filling stations look like for controlled vs non controlled medication. Is this human error or a machine error? At quick glance you would assume the pills are the same due to the color. I’m just assuming prescriptions pass a few different verifications prior to patient hand off. Hopefully someone doesn’t get in too much trouble.
