Execute producer vs producer, can we settle this for good?

Everytime I tried to google this I get more confused. I think I’m getting the broad strokes but then I’m immediately lost again.

Let’s take Ari Aster for example, apart from the movies he’s also directed he has produced a few. Some as just “producer” others as “executive producer”. How does his involment differs between those?
